Fashion "in a line"? This is how Poles do their shopping

Fashion "in a line"? This is how Poles do their shopping

Do you like to buy impulsively, but don't necessarily pay right away? You're not alone. PayPo reveals that more and more people are using deferred payments when buying... clothes.

Deferred payments such as BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) are gaining importance in Poland. The latest report " Pole shopping in BNPL" prepared by PayPo shows that more and more consumers decide to defer payments instead of settling the debt immediately. Does this mean that we choose small pleasures despite the shortfall in the account? Not entirely. The solution is particularly popular among people who want to have more freedom in purchasing decisions.

What is deferred payment and how does it work? PayPo, Klarna and Allegro Pay

BNPL allows you to make a purchase without having to pay immediately. The consumer usually has 30 days to settle the debt, at no additional cost - as long as the payment is made on time.

The report shows that the most recognizable BNPL brand in Poland is:

  • Allegro Pay (86.9%),
  • PayPo (80.3%)
  • Klarna (58.9%).

Among the services that consumers actually use, the order is similar: Allegro Pay (59.4%), PayPo (44.3%) and Klarna (22.9%).

Conscious use of deferred payments - how do Poles buy?

According to the report, Poles have come to love deferred payments. As many as 52 percent of respondents declared that they would stop shopping in stores that did not offer such payments .

Users reach for this form mainly in situations of unplanned expenses (48.3%), high-value purchases (43.4%) and to avoid using savings (36.6%). The average amount of a single purchase with BNPL is in the range of PLN 301–500.

BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later) is most commonly used for electronics (55.4%) and clothing and footwear (47.4%). No wonder – how many times have you ordered a dress that unfortunately didn’t look as good as it did on Instagram? Deferred payments have enabled safe purchases without having to “freeze” your cash.

The next categories are home and garden (33.7%), health and supplements (19.1%) and automotive (17.7%).
